Hailing from the suburbs of Philiadelphia, CJ Tywoniak started his musical journey at age 10. As one of Paul Green’s original students in the venerable School of Rock, CJ toured the US and Europe playing alongside such greats as Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder, Jon Anderson, Stewart Copeland and Marky Ramone among others; all by the age of 14.
CJ earned his degree in Media Writing and Production, honing his craft under Bruce Hornsby’s Creative American Songwriting program at the University of Miami, through which he also received one of the first Bruce Hornsby-funded scholarships. While there, he had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Steve Miller, Lamont Dozier and Bruce himself.
CJ also has a wealth of experience working in Television and film. During his Rock School years, he appeared and performed on such shows as MTV’s TRL, BBC’s Only in America, various news channels, and an appearance on VH1s Sober House (playing with Kyle Gas, Steven Adler, Mike Starr and others). CJ was featured in the Don Argott directed Rock School, a Newmarket Films documentary about the School of Rock, and appears as the lead guitarist in the 2011 feature film, Rock of Ages.
Among other projects, CJ is the lead guitarist for the Los Angeles/Australian-based band Evol Walks, who are releasing an EP produced and recorded by Brian Howes (Nickelback, Hinder, Airbourne) after finishing an extensive early ’15 Australian tour, soon to be followed by further touring that includes a billing at Polish Woodstock Festival (sharing mainstage duties with Within Temptation, Black Label Society and others).
